Why this is a hard time of year to run a small shop...

Below is a portion of my weekly email from 13 June, I wanted to share it about how this time of year is hard for small and ethical businesses.   I just wanted to start today's email by telling you something about running this business. So, I wanted to share that this time of year can be/is really hard to run a small shop, and particularly one that stocks only ethical items. The reason for this is this time of year is the big end of financial year sale season, so you'll see now that the big chain stores and...

A friend of mine wrote to me the other day and expressed that she was concerned that I share so freely on social media and through the shop, but I don't know how else to be really. My Favourite Outfit with Nina O'Brien from Kindling

This is my favourite outfit the 'Outrageous Sparkling top' and 'Caramel Linen Pants’. I make clothes because I love fabric and design and how the intersection of those two things on my body makes me feel, but especially how it makes others feel. I feel so proud every time a woman of anybody shape pops on these garments and looks fabulous, they have not failed a bum yet :)  I focus on wearable, washable garments to be hardworking for smart, dynamic, and ultimately busy women.

My favourite outfit with Cat Carew

My favourite top is really a favourite outfit and it really shows how I wear my values not just on my sleeve.   The red shirt I am wearing I made myself using some beautiful silk a boyfriend bought for me during his travels through India back in 1994.  I think it is hand loomed and is light as a feather.  The trim I used was bought when Easton Pearson closed down and they had this amazing sale of clothes and trims.  I was in heaven.  Since visiting the Museum of Brisbane’s exhibition on EP, I have discovered that this...
